The mission of the Brentwood Art Society is to encourage, support and develop art and cultural programs to benefit the City of Brentwood community. History

Shortly after the formation of the City of Brentwood Arts Commission, a group of individuals formed the Brentwood Art Society. The specific purpose for which this nonprofit corporation was formed is to raise funds for art and cultural support through various events within Brentwood and through membership. The Art Society's purpose is to create art in the community, promote public support and participation for the arts in Brentwood through the encouragement of the private sector and local educational institutions.
By April 2001, the Brentwood Art Society was formed with Jan Melloni, Ron Beatty, Joe Trebino, Emil Gidds, and Helen Myers. Some months later articles of incorporation were submitted to the state of California, followed soon by elected officers and an accepted by-laws with BAS, 1st President Jan Melloni, Joe Trebino Treasurer, and Patty Bristow Secretary.
Memberships to the Brentwood Art Society are available in various degrees. Individuals, families and businesses are encouraged to apply for membership to support the Society. Qualifications for members are to have an interest in promoting art and culture within Brentwood. The Brentwood Art Society is governed by a Board of Directors and by-laws formed by the organization. Members have no voting rights; however certain privileges apply depending on the level of membership.
